SAN-DOW BROADCASTING OUTREACH PROGRAM STATEMENT
(aka., The Mississippi Radio Group: WWMS, WZLQ, WSYE, WELO)
The stations of San-Dow Broadcasting continue to aggressively recruit for all open positions. Each opening is distributed to at least 5 universities in Northeast Mississippi. We also contributed to two different Job Fairs this year. We advertised these Job Fairs on all 4 radio stations, as well as, attended both of them. One was at the University of Mississippi in Tupelo. The other one was put on by the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters in Jackson, Mississippi. Both the General Manager and the Regional Manager of the Mississippi Radio Group interviewed perspective candidates.
In addition to the above recruitment sources, we place jobs on www.allaccess.com and send recruitment letters to various sources in Northeast Mississippi, including the local chapter of the NAACP. The recruitment of women and minorities continues to be very important to our company.
INITIATIVE 1: On January 24, 2007 all 4 stations of the Mississippi Radio Group participated and publicized the BUSINESS TO BUSINESS EXPO put on by the Tupelo Community Development Association. This event is host to approximately 80 businesses who interact and network with each other, as well as, potential clients. The Mississippi Radio Group uses this event to prospect for qualified employees who might be looking for a career in Broadcasting. Many community residents attend the free event to meet business leaders who might be looking to expand their staff.
INITIATIVE 2: March 29, 2007 the stations of the Mississippi Radio Group participated and publicized the Job Fair at the University of Mississippi Tupelo Campus. Present to represent the Mississippi Radio Group were Scott Bebout (Market Manager), Brenda Bebout (General Manager), Steve Drumm (Ops Manager), and Richard Chism (On-Air). The Mississippi Radio Group was the only broadcast media company participating in the event. Time was donated, as well as, a Live Remote Broadcast to talk about the event and let students know we were on campus to interview students who might be interested in a career in Broadcasting. As always, the University of Mississippi Tupelo Campus is appreciative of our involvement in their Job Fair.
INITIATIVE 3: May 11, 2007, Scott Bebout and Brenda Bebout participated and publicized the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters annual Job Fair in Jackson, Mississippi. We interviewed and received 31 resumes from perspective employees that represented a cross section of people. This Job Fair was one of the best events we have been a part of to meet and interview people who are interested in a career in Broadcasting.. Because the nature of the event is a Job Fair dedicated to the Broadcast industry, the quality and diversity of applicant is exceptional. We will continue to support the Job Fair in the years to come.
